Optional Destinations
Optional Destinations is an additional benefit of bonus locations made available to our members in order to provide more choices for their holidays. Optional affiliated hotels/resorts are only available through reciprocal arrangement with other Vacation Clubs in Malaysia and overseas and may be added/ changed/ removed from time to time due to renewal/ termination of reciprocal arrangement by either party.
These reciprocal arrangements are similar to a barter trade exchange where partnering vacation clubs come to an agreement to allow their members to access the other partner’s home-based properties on an agreed number of nights.
Unlike the home-based inventories stated in the Prospectus, there is no specific allotment reserved for our reciprocal partners.
Why do I need to pay additional fees for some properties in Rental Destinations like SGI VC Melaka and Anggerik Bungalow?
Members are entitled to the right to use the accommodation units at Home Resorts. SGI VC Melaka and Anggerik Bungalow are not our Home Resorts, hence they have been listed as Rental Destinations in which a special rental fee is charged by individual property in order to enjoy the facilities.
Why can I not book much earlier than 6 months in advance for Optional Destinations?
Optional Destinations are available through reciprocal exchange with other Vacation Clubs. As other Vacation Clubs would also want to prioritise their members' bookings , therefore reservations are always required in order to provide the maximum vacation opportunities and are made on first-come, first served basis and may be made up to six (6) months or down to no less than fourteen (14) days in advanced before travel date.
Would the number of reciprocal hotel selections be changed?
Yes, it may be changed, removed or new reciprocal properties added.
Some of the destinations have been removed because we received complaints from members of their deteriorating quality. We want to ensure that our members receive the best possible experience.
Besides that, since this is on a reciprocal exchange basis, the amount of exchange has to be fair. Unfortunately, at times there is a big disparity of the number of nights we owe to our partners as more of our members travelled to their properties rather than them coming over to Malaysia to stay in our properties. Hence it would be difficult to get rooms at some of the destinations.
SGI VC members who are interested to travel overseas are strongly encouraged to book through Interval International, our affiliated partner who provides an exchange network of nearly 3,200 quality resorts in over 80 nations. The properties provided by Interval International are mostly from established hotel chains which give you the assurance of quality, namely Marriott Vacation Club, Westin Vacation Ownership, Wyndham, Grand Mercure, Accor, Laguna, Westgate, CLC World Resorts & Hotels, Anantara Vacation Club, Sheraton Vacation Ownership, just to name a few.
Why does it take 14 working days to reply for reciprocal bookings?
Unlike the home-based inventories stated in the Prospectus, there is no specific allotment reserved for our members and all reservations are subject to availability upon request to our reciprocal partners. Hence it may take some time for our partners to reply to us.
